The Center for Life Enrichment (CLE) is an organization committed to providing life-long learning for adults throughout the Highlands-Cashiers area. CLE has offered continued education classes since 1992 and is aligned with both Western Carolina University and Emory University. In a given year; CLE may offer as many as 130 classes with up to 2,500—3,000 participants. The organization has a membership of approximately 500.

Counseling and Psychotherapy Center of Highlands
The Counseling and Psychotherapy Center of Highlands (CPCH) offers individual, marital, family, child, and group counseling, which draws on the insights, principles, and practices of modern psychology. Having multiple therapists and psychologists available, these services are provided to the community with fees based on a sliding scale, which takes into account family resources and circumstances.

As North Carolina’s oldest land trust, the Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust (HCLT) protects and preserves natural areas of significant ecological, scenic, recreational, agricultural or historic value. This organization educates and aids the community regarding land purchases, property donations and conservation easements.

The International Friendship Center (IFC) is committed to the area’s underserved international population. In cooperation with several area churches, the IFC provides two vital community food programs for families in need. Additionally, the center assists anyone in need with finding access to medical services, legal services, interpretation and transportation, either directly or through referral.

The Literacy Council of Highlands (LCH) provides diverse educational programs which advance literacy. Highly qualified staff and volunteers enrich and expand the knowledge of children, adults and families. The LCH offers individual tutoring, remediation, book distribution, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) programs, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes and more - all at no cost to their students.

Overland Unlimited Bridge of Hope provides military resilience training to active military as well as veterans. Focused on educating service members and veterans about combat and operational stress (COS) and its long-term effects, this organization’s goal is to promote long term physical and psychological health (PH) and well-being for service members and their families. Overland Unlimited provides a bridge of hope for all veterans returning to their vocations, families and communities. They deliver unique off-road adventures, which provide post deployment stress (PDS) awareness and resilience training.

Having served the community for over 7 years, Kim Bonsteel is a board-certified Diplomat of Acupuncture, a master’s level graduate of Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine, certified in Chinese Herbal Medicine, licensed acupuncturist, licensed body-work therapist and a certified Myoskeletal Alignment Therapist. Sharing his time between a faculty position at Appalachian State University and serving the Highlands-Cashiers area, Kim is dedicated to healing our community.

Northampton Medical, LLC, was founded to consult and guide companies focusing upon health care. Currently, Northampton is working with three early-stage entities; Lena Biosciences, Inc., a medical device business emerging from Georgia Tech; ARChem, a company that was originated in the University of Georgia Department of Chemistry; and HemoHome, which is jointly developing an anemia detection device at Emory University and Georgia Tech.

Accounts for the gifting of stock to non-profit organizations are offered to local groups. Stratton Construction Scheduling & Sequencing
An independent consulting firm, David Stratton assists developers and general contractors with the scheduling of $10-$100 million construction projects. The scheduling process includes periodic meetings with the project teams to maintain and update schedule control throughout the duration of the project. Most projects are in the southeastern United States and include hospitals, student housing, schools, military installations and infrastructure projects.
A catering and carry away service, The Kitchen offers healthy well-prepared foods for the freezer, everyday meals, and your entertaining needs. A portion of their profits, from select casseroles, is donated to local and regional non-profit organizations which feed the hungry.
