The organizations housed at the Center improve the lives of area residents in numerous ways. Continual learning is the focus of both The Literacy Council and The Center for Life Enrichment. Improving health is paramount for The Counseling & Psychotherapy Center, The Center for Acupuncture & Healing Arts, Overland Unlimited Bridge of Hope, and At Your Service Home Care. The International Friendship Center helps folks acclimate to our area while financial services firms like Curtis Mathews CPA and Prudential Advisors keep clients grounded. Thank You Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust for protecting the ecology of our area, Stratton Construction for guiding area development through an interactive scheduling process, and The Kitchen Carry Away for keeping us all fed and happy.
Looking at the Crosby Center in its splendor, who’d know that it was originally Highlands first hospital? Over the past few years the building has been updated to be energy efficient, offer 21st century services like internet and has been given a total facelift.
The affordable rents, which allow the tenants to utilize more of their valuable resources to serve their clients, cover only the day-to-day operating costs. Capital improvements are covered by funds raised from grants and The Center’s annual fund-raising campaign known as “Peggy’s Heroes.” A tiered program of giving, Peggy’s Heroes encourages new donors and return donors to increase their level of support. Won’t you join your friends and neighbors in being one of Peggy’s Heroes? Check out the October Laurel or visit peggycrosbycenter.org for more details on Peggy’s Heroes.
